Something Star Trek this way comes! It’s the Brooklyn Academy of Music's massive production of Macbeth, starring the man most well known as Cap. Jean-Luc Picard, Mr. Patrick Stewart, who, as the New York Post’s Michael Riedel conjectures, may be on his way to a Tony. Follow the logic:

The money's in place. The star's ready to go. And a theater's about to become available.

All that's needed is a send-off today from the critics, and Macbeth, starring Patrick Stewart at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, will come big-footing on to Broadway, shaking up the Tony Award terrain.

Mr. Riedel goes on to explain that come April, August Osage County will move from the Imperial to the Music Box, leaving the Imperial’s stage empty until late summer; hence, the potential for a limited engagement of Macbeth from late April through mid-June. The show, a highly stylized and gory interpretation that was met with rave reviews in London, closes at BAM on March 22.

What might Mr. Stewart think of becoming a Tony contender? Try asking him yourself—he’ll engage in a post-show dialogue at BAM this Sunday evening, an event that’s free for ticketholders.
