Paying for Jamie Lynn Spears' Pregnancy May Be 'OK!', But Is It All Right With 'US'?

Did OK!, the celebrity gossip magazine, really pay $1 million for exclusive rights to the Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy story? US Weekly, a competing whisper weekly, seems to think so, going so far as to print the claim on the cover of US last week.
But, as an article in today’s Times points out, the prevalence of “checkbook journalism” is common among such publications. Paying celebs for exclusive photo and/or interview rights is hardly a novel notion. And such transactions are not always intended to remain so hush-hush, either. Remember when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sold People the rights to take pictures of their daughter, Shiloh, for a rumored $4 million? Or just consider all of the recent, widespread rumors that Lindsay Lohan has shopped her whereabouts to the paparazzi in exchange for cash. After all, it seems only fair that stars who are constantly hounded by armies of aggressive photographers have an opportunity to grab a slice of what is really, at the end of the day, their own pie.
What is new about US’ recent allegations, as the article points out, is the pregnancy issue. OK!’s American edition editor, Sarah Ivens, said that if paying for the pregnancy story did in fact occur, they would not have been the only potential buyers. “If there’s something out there, there will be a bidding war,” she said, adding: “We’re not bidding against ourselves.” Asked if her magazine did in fact pay Ms. Spears for the expecting exclusive, Ms. Ivens said: “I’m not very good at lying.”

No one should cover this story I think it send a bad message to 16 yr old children ( look Jamie did it why can't we ) well I think thats why we have the problem with children having children that we do have these days cause we show them its ok !! come on now duh ! do these people have children or what my god !!!
So we're suppost to sheild our childeren? Thats like saying "You can't watch t.v. because it has profanity." Walk out your front door and you can hear the "f" word. The same is true about teens getting knocked up. Wait till you go to high school. There are hundreds of teens that drop out because of this thing. My point is that if they dont hear it one place they WILL hear it somewhere else. If you dont want you kids to think its ok get some better parenting skills and teach you freaking kid its not ok to have sex till after marrage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a lot of buzz these days about this, teen pregnancy has many problems,One way you can reduce the teen pregnancy is by educating them the matter is blown out of proportion when celebrities are involved in it, I came across a site which was discussing about the care we have to take during pregnancy hope that will be useful thank you.
Who cares if Jamie Lynn is pregnant? Millions of teens everyday are pregnant and doing things most teens shouldn't do. Its 2008 not 1950 anymore. Woman don't have to wait to have sex and have a baby when they are married, which they were usually married at 16 anyways. But back to the story. Jamie made her choice by having sex. She has the choice of having a baby. I feel bad for her and her sister. They both are under the light and get rediculed for things most kids do every single day. Let them have there space until they are ready to be photographed again. Jamie i'm sure is a good girl just because she had sex doesnt mean shes a sinner, shes just going through hormones and the wonderful teen years. People just need to be there for them and not make fun of Britney for shaving her head or going down the wrong road. They need to let her know most people do it and she can get out if shes strong, get her babies back and live her life a wonderful mother. Jamie just needs to eat healthy and say F*** the world. And dont go down the wrong road like her sister. But be there for her.
id totally bang her.....
i aggree with the guy above me i woulf bang her until she cums
why is everyone downing jamie for having sex it was her choice ppl just need to stay out of other ppl's buisness she is taking the responsability of having sex so why wont ppl just keep their traps shuts
I think that everybody needs to stop comparing Jamie to Brittney. Because Jamie is nothing like her sister and will never be like her. Jamie is going to be a great mom. At least the example she is setting is a good one. She isn't supporting abortion so that is a good thing. Jamie did make a mistake but at least she is owning up to it. Most teenagers that get knocked up get rid of their baby whether by adoption or by abortion. Jamie should be left alone and let her take care of herself and the baby.
To watch this unfold is like a bad Movie which all the Spears family is cast, Just like the Jacksons Money and fame will be their destruction as people and as public figures, I hope this is a big publicity stunt for her and the Childs sake if there is one, we have already witnessed 2 spears moms in action and seen the results.
its jamies fault she got pregnant and y the f** do ppl care its not like there having the baby she is so ...... her fauklt at leats she s wiulling ot take care of it
Let me just ask this....How old were ya'll when you first had sex? I'll bet most were either 16 or younger. What if your daughter came home from school today and told you she was pregnant! Would you want it published in every magazine and have people all over the world talking about it? We all make mistakes. She could have even used a condom and maybe it broke, we don't know all the circumstances. I think there is some good in this situation, think about what a great opporutunity this create for all of you parents to talk to your kids about safe sex and what can happen.
