Biden Seems on Verge of VP Slot -- But So Did John Glenn

Maybe it will be Joe Biden after all. The buzz around him is only increasing. Here’s what Howard Fineman reported just a few minutes ago:
Within the last few hours I've spoken with two of the finalists for the role of Barack Obama's running-mate, and to two other sources who are close to the process.
My bottom line is this: Barring a big surprise or last-minute change of heart, the choice is likely to be Sen. Joe Biden of Deleware [sic] chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee….
"If I had to bet my life on it, I'd bet it is Joe," said one of the other contenders.
But keep in mind: This kind of just-before-the-wire buzz can be very misleading. Fevered speculation like this caused about half of the national press corps to make its way to Ohio in July 1988, as Michael Dukakis’s VP search drew to a close with all signs seemingly pointing to John Glenn’s selection. A typical report from back then:
Dukakis has reportedly narrowed his selections to a list that includes (Jesse) Jackson, four senators and two congressmen.
They are Sens. John Glenn of Ohio, Lloyd Bentsen of Texas, Bob Graham of Florida and Albert Gore of Tennessee and Reps. Richard Gephardt of Missouri and Lee Hamilton of Indiana.
The odds seem to be favoring Glenn, who is certain to help Dukakis carry Ohio. Over the weekend, Bentsen indicated to reporters he was out of the running, and Democratic leaders doubt that Graham would be able to carry Florida, where polls show his popularity is eroding.
The next day, though, Dukakis announced that his choice was ... Bentsen – the same guy who had just told the press he was out of the mix. It’s an example that might be worth keeping in mind now that some of Obama’s VP finalists are indicating the same thing to Fineman.

he should pick warren beatty. i saw 'buggsy' and the junior senator from illinois could certainly use somebody like that. the 'bulworth' thing also provides electability and courage, yes?
A friend of mine shook hands with Sen. Biden a few days ago, when he was at the airport in Las Vegas -- the same day that Sen. Obama had a meeting in Nevada.
Is this a clue, or just a coincidence?
Liberals could never make up their mind-- they keep flip-flopping, so i wouldn't be surprised if Biden isn't picked for the VP slot.
If Obama picks Biden, we are in for a long bitter and nasty campaign because Biden is a selfish, nasty, know-it-all plagiarist SOB who only likes himself...maybe.
We are all assuming that Obama will be the nominee...let's wait until the Convention. I still say the Clintons are in gear to steal the election...stay tuned. It's not over until the lady in the pants suit sings.
.
Is it possible that we will see Hillary Supporters (i.e., the ‘Whining Women’s Brigade’) leaping off cliffs in Colorado when Obama announces his VP pick — and it ain’t Hillary?
Will Obama’s VP choice pre-empt the ‘Clinton Freakshow’ scheduled for the DNC convention?
Will Obama surprise everyone and serve Hillary’s Supporters Cool-Aid at the Convention?
COULD OBAMA'S SECRET WEAPON BE GERALDINE?

To bad Biden couldn't (double task) and be VP and Secretary of State.
Please pick that idiot, Democrats!!
So many skeletons in Bidens closet, so many senate votes the RNC can use against him!
I can't wait!
I'm a 30-year-old registered Democrat who will be voting Republican for the first time in November. Incidentally, I've learned that the same is true of several relatives and friends. In short, I'm utterly appalled by the Democrats' abandonment of working and middle-class whites (its rightful base) in favor of a social politics aimed at placating racist blacks, illegal immigrants, Islamists, gay activists, envirolunatics, etc. The Obama nomination sounded the death knell for working people and announced the ascendancy of the Harvard-Hollywood liberal.
Obviously, I'm conflicted to the extent that I vehemently disagree with conservative fiscal policy, but in one respect, there's a certain comfort in knowing that I'll be free of the Democrats' incompetent campaigning.
In all seriousness, I'm not entirely satisfied that the Democrats could choose anyone worse than Biden. In the era of ubiquitous media and stifling political correctness, Biden is an immeasurable liability. Luckily for him, most of his idiotic musings were confined to domestic issues that weren't all that important. But seeing as how Biden fancies himself a foreign-policy expert, he'll doubtless throw himself headlong into the international political scene, where his verbal miscues will have far greater consequences. Just let Biden be caught on the record calling Putin "another Stalin" or calling Kim Jong-il a "lunatic," and you'll see all hell break loose.
Joe Biden is an Irish-American. Since when have the Irish been faulted for their loquacity? So he sticks his foot in his mouth occasionally? Who cares? We who love his frank in-your-face talk know that it is his brilliance, the rapidity of his thinking that is often tripped up by his vocal inability to catch up with his thoughts, expecially, when he assumes that his listeners are smart enough to catch his shorthand. Foreign leaders give him more respect than Americans and appreciate that they will get a straight answer from him. Yes, he'd be great in theVP slot but wasted in that role. As for the old plagiarism charge: that should have been laid to rest 20 years ago. It was discredited and Dukakis (whose campaign started the smear) subsequently apologized to Biden,. I hope he gets Secretary of State.

Jackson says: To start, millions of swing voters whom he can alienate in the span of five seconds. Second, scores of international leaders who would be outraged and humiliated by his unthinking remarks.
Jean: We who love his frank in-your-face talk know that it is his brilliance
Jackson: Straight, in-your-face talk? Perhaps you're referring to the time that he bent over during the Alito confirmation hearings by using his time to tell Alito all about how his son went to Penn? I'll never forgive him for that. The Republicans nominated a big-business shill who was associated with an elitist, plutocratic, discriminatory group at Princeton, but Biden decided to turn the hearing into a hobnobbing country-club session! No one gives a fuck that you got your son into a fancy college, Joe. For Christ's sake, if George Bush can get into Yale and Harvard Business School, then any rich guy's son can get in anywhere. How about some SERIOUS questions for a guy who will be on the Supreme Court for the next 40 years?
Or perhaps you were referring to the time when Biden folded up his tent and went home after Clarence Thomas played the race card by declaring the hearings a "hi-tech lynching"? Had he any balls, Biden would have stuck to his guns. But no.
Dear Jerkson Pax, since you didn't take the trouble to spell my name correctly I'm returning the favor.
Anyone who has read Biden's bio knows his balls are just fine, tougher than any pol I can think of. And this coming from a 74-year-old woman who can still appreciate a real man when she sees one.
As for your swing voters that includes me, an independent. I think the majority of us are waiting for a VP candidate who is more than silly putty, who'll really make them sit up and take notice with his shoot from the hip comments. That takes someone with the verbal skils of Joe Biden, son.
Internation leaders? Obviously, you know nothing of the respect with which this man is held throughout the world. The Georgian leader recently asked Joe Biden to visit, not Bush or Rice. Before Bhutto was killed she talked only with Joe Biden. I could go on and on.
But I won't respond to anything else you have to say. I have no time for bias.

Jackson Pax: I made a mistake, and you saw fit not only to point it out and to make a big deal of it but also to childishly mock my name with an ad hominem insult! Oh, how very mature of you! That you purport to be a 74-year-old woman renders this puerile behavior all the more embarrassing. Here's a tip, Joan: sit up straight, pull your tits out from under your armpits, and treat yourself to a good stool softener. You'll feel better.
Joan Gordon said: As for your swing voters that includes me, an independent.
Jackson Pax: Right, and because you're a swing voter, your feelings about Biden are necessarily representative of those of swing voters in general, right?
Joan Gordon: I think the majority of us are waiting for a VP candidate who is more than silly putty, who'll really make them sit up and take notice with his shoot from the hip comments. That takes someone with the verbal skils of Joe Biden, son.
Jackson Pax said: Ms. Gordon, I am not your son. You went into menopause during the Watergate hearings, so I think you would do well to rethink your supposition. As regards your desire for shoot-from-the-hip comments, could ANYTHING be more irresponsible in such a dangerous world?
Joan said: Internation leaders? Obviously, you know nothing of the respect with which this man is held throughout the world.
Jackson Pax: For his sake, I hope it's far greater than the respect he enjoys among his own people.
Joan Gordon said: Before Bhutto was killed she talked only with Joe Biden.
Jackson Pax: Some good he did her, too. Were it not for his intervention, she might have been killed. Oh, wait a minute.
