Bon Jovi Exposes Limits of Bloomberg's Folk Knowledge

Yesterday, Jon Bon Jovi and Michael Bloomberg held a joint press conference to announce a free concert in Central Park on July 12.

About nine minutes into the video, Bon Jovi is recalling other concerts in the park, and he notes that earlier, Bloomberg had mispronounced Art Garfunkel's name (he apparently said Garfinkel).

“Did I say that?” Bloomberg asks. “He’s my neighbor too. He lives next door.”

Has anyone noticed that Mayor Bloomberg is in hyper-drive to distract New Yorkers in terms of the terrible budget he force fed the City last week under his and his Deputy for City Council Quinn's non negotiation???
Instead of drilling deep into the giveaways to Joel Klein's empire building & consultant hiring, the press followed our billionaire Mayor as he showed off the wasteful water falls in the East River; the next day it was "jump into the pool" time" to pull the press away from the devastated non-profits on the steps of City Hall; and now when all the analyses and impact statements should be scrutinized, the Mayor is standing with Jon Bon Jovi and not the people who help the poor.

Give me a break...Jon Bon Jovi is giving a free concert--free to the folks of New York. Jon, the band and the Philadelphia Soul do alot for Habitat and many other charities who help the poor--are you kidding me? Dont know much about the Mayor--but read up on Bon Jovi before you comment on Jon Bon Jovi.

Denise I agree with you regarding Bon Jovi's charitable efforts, except for one point that may have been missed in all this. Bank of America is sponsoring this.... that means Bon Jovi is not doing this for free by no means. Someone is paying, and that would be Bank of America. Or I should say, those of us who have been Bank of America customers are paying while they swindle people out of millions with their unfair credit rates for the people who cannot pay their bills on time. I commend Bon Jovi for putting their talents out there for what I'm sure is a discounted rate but, everyone is getting something out of this. Bon Jovi, a feather in their cap. MLB,lots of press. And last but not least, Mayor Bloomberg gets a chance to look somewhat personable. By the way, did I mention I'm a HUGE Bon Jovi fan and have been for 20 years. Rock on Bon Jovi! Loved the last tour and I so hope the concert in Central Park is televised so I can see just a glimpse of the magic they do live in concert.
