Clinton Supporters Demand That Obama Denounce Ludacris

Susie Tompkins Buell, a former Clinton bundler who has persistently criticized Barack Obama since he won the Democratic primary, is incensed about a new Ludacris song that praises Obama but also uses salty language and refers to Hillary Clinton as a "bitch."

"I think it's an opportunity for Senator Obama to stand up," said Buell, who is not a regular Ludacris listener. "I have not heard it, I have seen certain quotes from this, I don't know, do you call them songs? What do you call it?"

"It's just unacceptable. If it's true that he is on Senator Obama's iPod quite a bit, he's got to distance himself. Because this guy is very disrespectful and misogynist about women. It's not acceptable."

"It's really kind of scary when you get down to the pardon stuff," she added.

("Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers," raps Ludacris. "Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer.")

I asked her if it was at all realistic, or reasonable, to demand that Obama distance himself from someone who has absolutely nothing to do with his campaign.

"I think that he has to say something about it, because it's also a chance for him to say something. I'm looking at the words right now. 'Hillary hated on you so that bitch is irrelevant.' That is unacceptable. If Senator Obama has any kind of relationship -- this is such an endorsement of Obama, this whatever it is, this rant -- he's got to do something about it. If he doesn't, it just encourages it. "

Separately, bundler Yashar Hedayat said, "Obama has said he [Ludacris] is in his iPod. Obama has talked about personal responsibility a lot in the past month. In fact, Jesse Jackson was ranting and raving about that. So this is a chance to say, 'You know what? This is not the kind of stuff we need.'"

UPDATE: Duly condemned.

Wonder when these Hillaryites are going to call on HER to renounce the racist rhethoric she spewed in her campaign? Not holding my breath.

HEY FOLKS! The Obama statement came out almost an hour before this story was even posted.

"As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to," said spokesman Bill Burton. "This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

Would be nice if people actually checked the headlines before the chorus of "He doesn't do enough to respect HRC" starts up.

By Thursday sometime mid-day Obama will throw him under the bus too. It's getting kinda crowded down there. How many times can BHO use the " That's not the X I knew....."

Just one more example of Obama's radical associations and why he does not deserve to be president.

Drew (not verified) says:

It is time for the Susie Tompkins-Buells of the world to stop being so indignant! Barack Obama is no more responsible for the Ludacris lyrics as Hilary was for Bill's claim. Bill said Barack won because he is black and Ludacris called Hilary a bitch. Neither of them is or was right and it is not the responsibilty of Hilary or Barack to set the record straight. If you don't like the Ludacris lyrics, don't buy his cd. If you don't like Bill's BS then don't buy it either;)

I think not only should we demand Obama comment on the lyrics of everyone on his ipod, we should inventory his entire record & album collection. And do the same for Hillary & McCain. Maybe McCain has some Al Jolson records and since Al performed in blackface, if he doesn't denounce Al, it means McCain is a racist.

Deniese (not verified) says:

Ludicrus and Obama re both ghetto trash. Obama had Ludricus perform at Obama fundraisers.

I'm confused: Obama said he doesn't listen to Ludicrus, but yet has many of his songs on his iPod.

Obama and his goons are just a bunch of mindless gang bangers.

I wonder if Obama is on the Tupac or Biggie side.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Obama is an arrogant ass.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

If HRC has "SO MANY" supporters (that will not vote for Obama) , then why don't THEY pay down her debt??!

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Deniese, you have to be a very ignorant and racist person to call Barack and Ludacris ghetto trash. They both have accomplished more than you; so, in regards to that, who is the trash? You seem to be one of the diminutive-minded individuals that's bothered by a black man being the democratic GOP presumptive nominee. Also, to clear your understanding, he does listen to Ludacris; however, Im sure he doesn't listen to the Ludacris' songs which conveys negative lyrics. Ludacris has positive songs which Im sure Sen. Obama has taken a liking to. Therefore, you need to get your facts straight and stop being such a typical, ignorant person before you open your uneducated mouth.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

You should be ashamed of your ignorance. People know matter what their race, are not trash we are all human, so please try and be more respectful in the future.

P.S. I heard somewhere, or read a quote, that said " when you open your mouth you expose your brain" I also think this is true about your heart.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Dear Drew,

People like you are the reason this country is so twisted in its values. How can you even begin to compare Bill Clinton's statement to the someone calling a former first lady the "B" word? Don't you think that is not only very rude but also very low especially from someone like Obama who claim to be a unifier without the old political tactics. He needs to do the right thing by denounce this man who I understand is in his iPod! After all, he denounced his own pastor with whom he had been with for 20 years and someone he initially claim to be his spiritual adviser. If he does not denounce this singer, then he is a bloody hypocrite who must be enjoying the song.

And please for God's sake Mr. Clinton is a former President of this country, can't we show him respect? for your information he never said anything along that line. If I remember correctly I believe what he said before narrow minded bigots like you and the media twisted it was that he would not be angry with the people of North Carolina if they voted for Obama over his wife like they did for Jessie Jackson. Is it wrong for him to say this? Hillary is no longer in the race and Obama has his nomination why still instigate his people to run her down?

Obama should not only denounce this man but he should get it off his Ipod.

I will let you be the judge of your own words.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Deniese is not an ignorant person nether is she an hateful person I believe you are. Obama claims he does not listen to rap because of his children. why have it in his iPod. One cannot say anything about Obama we will call them racist! What happened to honesty and integrity? Obama the uses the race card every time he lies.

Deniese (not verified) says:

Ludacris calls women hos and sluts. He wants to paralyze McCain.

Ludacris rants against whites in his songs.

Obama then says he doesn't want his kids to listen to such trashy music, but Obama listens to it on his iPod.

See Obama's hypocricy?

Obama is GHETTO TRASH. He's just a Blood or a Crip and a POS.

We, Hillary supporters, have been paying her debts. However, we will never give a penny to that looser NoBama. I know that a lot of you are under the age of 25 and first time voters, but this is the first time in my lifetime where I as a Democrat will vote for McCain. At least he doesn't play Jay-Z "I got 99 problems but the b*tch aint one." I have two girls and will not vote for a sexist pig like Obama.

Annie4Labs (not verified) says:

Any Hillary supporter who votes for Obama is a self hater. Haven't the Hillary people been slapped enough? This Obama freak needs to GO. WTF is he doing in this race anyway? He is showing himself to be the worst kind of narcissist with no reason to be President. He's a scary, nasty man and he just keeps throwing his nasty azz associations under the bus. As another poster said...move over Rezko, Wright, Kahlidi, Farakhann, Soros, etc. here comes another ex mentor, friend, etc. to join you under that bus. It's getting OLD. Get rid of this guy and bring Hillary back. Or else be ready for the BIGGEST landslide win by the GOP in HISTORY. It won't even be close. NOBAMA NEVER.

Detroit buddies (not verified) says:

Obama asked Ludacris in 2006 to perform at his fundraiser for President and he met privately with him for 2 hours. Now I understand the lyrics about asking Obama for a pardon.
Maybe every inmate in jail will expect a pardon from Obama.

Sherri (not verified) says:

What racist rhethoric did Hillary EVER do in her campaign??? Not the junk his campaign tried to pass as racist but actual racist remarks??There are none to renounce!!! It was all a fairytale in obama's world, not reality!

Sherri (not verified) says:

I give my mere $25 at the beginning of every month to help but most of her supporters are limited in their funds! You know, the forgotten group who only has their vote to cast in hopes to change things but then you get a dirty chicago politician who buys the nod through super delegates and "the vote" the PEOPLE cast doesn't matter one bit. I'm not stuck with this inexperienced joker, I'm voting McCain! I may not agree with all his policies but I trust him and feel with his years of service McCain has EARNED the office...obama hasn't with his mere 143 days of service! Better the devil you know than the devil you don't!!!!

Anonymous (not verified) says:

SickofObama - stop making generalizations. I haven't seen 25 in decades and I support Obama. I guess I'm just not so old that I would let hatred, bitterness or anger cloud my judgment. Oh, and I voted in EVERY election since I was old enough to vote which was long before MTV came along trying to rock it. I supported Hillary too, but there is NO WAY I'm voting for 4 more years of Bush.

I get so sick of people talking about how much they love this country, but would rather see it and their futures destroyed over some nonsense like a rapper trying make another buck. Groups have been complaining about trash rappers calling black women b's for YEARS, but oh no, now that they called white woman a B---, obviously it is because Barack Obama is a sexist pig.

If you really cared about America, you would have been calling these trash rappers sexist pigs years ago and tried to get the government shut them down. But its OK if they denigrate black woman, just not Hillary.

Sheila (not verified) says:

Are all of you people serious!! If we as a people can get so distracted by lyrics in a song then we are the problem not Obama. I am concerned about the non-existent education and health care systems, the war, and more importantly the need to keep my house and be able to heat it this winter without having to exhaust all of my savings. If we are asking a Presidential candidate to take up the fight to stomp out questionable lyrics in rap music then all of you as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles have failed your children. We make choices to listen to any song or watch any movie so people please. I don't need a President or Presidential candidate to denounce anyone because I make my own choices.
And whoever is writing these comments with all the name calling please GROW UP!

Angie4Labs - There is not a politician in the world that earned my loyalty. I vote for my interest. My interest is NOT in higher gas prices, NOT in continuing the war in Iraq, NOT in giving George's base more tax cuts, NOT in fend for yourself health care policy, NOT in Supreme Court Judges who want to make the office of the President that of a dictator, and NOT ensuring that my children will be forced into paying down a ridiculous amount of debt to China with the money that would have been paid to them for Social Security.

Only a hater would look at these facts, agree that they are not in there interest either, but vote for McCain anyway. If he wins, I hope he disposes of Social Security, ends all taxes on those making over one million dollars year and gives Americans a $1000 tax credit for health care premiums in exchange for all private businesses immediately dropping health insurance as a work benefit. But at least you got back at Ludacris for calling a woman a b____. Meanwhile, Ludacris will be driving his Bentely, buying more bling with his tax free money and laughing in your face.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Denise - Get Informed!!!! Ludacris has some positive dance music, not all of his rap is trash. And if listening to Ludacris means you're Ghetto Trash, then a whole lot of white people need get a "I'm Ghetto Trash" T-Shirt.

That being said, Ludacris is a shameless opportunist like most businessmen. He timed this to get attention and here we are giving it to him. Do you really think he gives a d--- about Obama? Is he even eligible to vote? This was an opportunity to sell music a.k.a make money. Why else are stations that never play rap suddenly playing this song. Would you have listened to a track on his latest album if it weren't for this song? NO! Do you think CNN would have played his music video on the news last night if it weren't for this song? NO!

Politically Sick of the BS (not verified) says:

Every Presidential canidate since the begining of time has done many of the thing that Sen. Obama is being accussed of. In the mind of people like Susie Tompkins-Buells (Professional Political Bundler) he has to do what she think is right. He has to atone for everything that is wrong in America and has to champion the rights of all political bundlers in order to get their money. The real truth is that if a bundler picks the wrong canidate (Susie you did)they have no access to the new power base. Ludacris is a diversion from the real issue. He makes record that his audience wants to hear. Gangster Rap sell 10 times more CD's in White households than in Blacks households. This is not a White or Black thing. Our Democratic and Republican Nominee does not have to apologize for every stupid statement a person in our country makes. Let's stay focus on the real issue, i.e. THE ECONOMY.

I listen to a lot of music that has some very bad words, however the reason I listen is that I love the beats, the music is good to dance to. I am not listening to the words and they don't shape how I view life. I thank my parents for that. Please get off Sen. Obama back, he can listen to whatever he wants. Can we have a President that thinks for himself and not think as the polls go. I know I'm never going to agree with everything, everyone says but I respect your right to live your life and say what you think.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

The media is just making a big deal out of nothing. People who dont like Barack (because of his race) want to attack him in every way they can. It is not Obama that made those lyrics, it was ludacris, and although they were pretty explicit, its the truth. If anyone is to blame, its definately NOT Obama!

Wow, when did it matter what kind of music the person running for office liked to work out to? People have been on Obama like white on rice. He has my vote (not that ya'll care). The Clinton's and the Rep.'s are so shocked that this educated BLACK man is doing so well, I am as shocked as them ... ..... I did not think the U.S had it in them to tell the truth. Why should he denounce some one for doing something he did not ask them to do? Alot of you people are just puppets thinking Obama is a muslim, and he is in a gang (spare me dumb middle americans )and will make the national food fried chicken and kool-aid. Ok he is black he might listen to some rap here and there that doesn't negate the fact that he is educated and the breth of fresh air we need in Washington. You are not voting for the color of his skin you are voting for change we can not go on the with the way things are now.Just think about it.
