Debating George W. Bush, Brooklyn-Style

After last night's Senate debate between Kevin Parker, Kendall Stewart and Simcha Felder, two attendees got into a yelling match on the sidewalk about capitalism and President George Bush.

The man identified himself to me as Ira Weinstock, and he said he's an adjunct professor at Toro College teaching political science and history. The woman said she was born in Eastern Europe and had once run for Congress in the 10th Congressional District as a Republican.

About halfway through the yelling, the woman storms off, and Weinstock yells at her, "Support George Bush and bankrupt yourself."

"George Bush, I love him," the woman replies.

"He bankrupted America," Weinstock says.

"Shut up!"

And so on.

The woman is Mariann M. Blume, personna non grata with the local Republican Party.

Richard P. (not verified) says:

GW Bush did not bankrupt America. The millions of home buyers who lied on their mortgage applications destroyed the economy.

RICHARD P. - Thank you for telling us the truth...it seems that these damn idiots will blame Bush for having a rainy summer this year.

Last time I checked GW was the one cutting taxes on the rich and deciding to then spend trillions of dollars on the war in Iraq. It wasn't the millions of home buyers who lied on their mortgage. Seems to me that GW is the one creating the recipe for bankruptcy.

I am the Republican , Conservative Candidate for the 21st Senate District. It is very scary that our children are being taught, by professors who have a warped sense of history. Number one President Bush cut taxes on everyone who paid taxes. Two thanks to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan we have not had a terrorist attack in America in seven years. Three maybe if we drilled for oil years ago, and not be handcuffed by liberals like you we would not be paying over 4 dollars a gallon at the pump, then we would all have money in our pockets to pay our rent, and buy food. So remember that Professor Weinstock, when you are teaching our children, about the world according to you.

Seems Professor Weinstock was prescient. He's screaming (in August 2008) about the U.S. going from a Clintonian budget surplus to a staggering Bushwacky deficit in just seven years. And, lo and behold, a month later - September 2008 -the economy collapses. Now, the party of Lincoln laughably dons the mantle of "change" and puts up a vacuous poster child for the forced pregnancy lobby with the economic sophisitcation of a piggy bank to take over if the ultimate Washingtonian insider, John McCain, is (a) successful enough to pull the wool over America's eyes and (b) passes away (he's refusing to disclose his medical records) after doing so.

Professor Weinstock may be unduly loud but he is not wrong. And perhaps we should all be screaming.
