Five Congress Members to Endorse Marty Connor
Although it sometimes seems like 30-year incumbent State Senator Marty Connor is playing the underdog role in his race against young, Schumer-backed challenger Dan Squadron, Connor certainly has his share of establishment backing.
And here's more! On Monday, a number of members of Congress will endorse Connor at City Hall.
A release promises Carolyn Maloney, Jerrold Nadler and Nydia Velázquez at a press conference, as well as the possibility of Yvette Clarke, and the endorsement of Ed Towns, although he won't be able to make it. (He has to fend off Kevin Powell, after all.)

These are not Representatives that matter (in any way whatsoever).
The fact that the establishment player, the one in office for three decades, gets endorsed by the establishment is a non-story.
That anyone -- any unions, any electeds, or the Working Families Party -- was willing to break with the establishment and endorse Squadron against the former Democratic leader of the State Senate (and also one of the best known election lawyers in the state) is a serious sign of weakness for Connor. His rollout of fairly meaningless establishment endorsements does nothing to change that truth.
Nice spin Squadron camp. Not very convincing, but a good sporting try!
But the fact that some guy gets endorsed by his former employer (Schumer) does matter? Squadron can't talk about that one enough.
Not a Squadron or Connor supporter, but I have to agree. These are fairly meaningless endorsements and if anything shows that Connor is nervous about keeping his job.
Wouldn't YOU be nervous about keeping your job if you're running against an energetic opponent who's out-fundraised you by a 7-1 margin?
Conner was on the brink of disaster two years ago when challenged by Ken Diamondstone, another well-funded opponent. Supporters and loyalists told him after that hard-fought win it was time for him to spend more time and pay attention to his demographically-changing district.
Primary day will determine if the voters want to let Conner keep his job.
Squadron had boatloads of money because his dad was a "successful" lawyer in this town. Turns out he was in business with Israeli Prime Minister (when he was a lower level official) Ehud Olmert. Olmert has announced he wont seek reelection because he is close to being indictment for more than 20 years of corruption. Seems like Squadron was a big shot Jewish leader steering American businessmen to Olmert who got cash for the joint business. So, is young Squadron spending funds that were obtained in a corrupt and sleazy fashion??? Someone needs to get the information from the Israeli authorities and find out what went on with Olmert, Squadron and Company.
