At the heart of Michael Bloomberg’s argument for his own third term is the idea that he is the most qualified person to govern the city right now. But most objections to Bloomberg's plan so far have been about the way he's doing this (through the City Council), not his record.

So, earlier today, State Senator Kevin Parker offered a blistering take on (the first?) seven years of Bloomberg on the steps of City Hall.

Parker listed the following: Bloomberg failed to implement nonpartisan elections, hasn’t built anything at Ground Zero, didn’t get congestion pricing passed in Albany, didn’t get enough support to build the West Side Stadium, and his improvement of city public schools is debatable.

“He hasn’t been a great mayor. And because you haven’t messed anything up doesn’t mean you’re a great mayor,” he said. Later, Parker added that Bloomberg “has turned out to be the worst kind of petty, grubby little politician that anybody has ever seen in this city.”

It's worth noting that Bloomberg endorsed Councilman Simcha Felder in a race to unseat Parker in the primary last month. Parker, who also faced Councilman Kendall Stewart, won easily.
