Q Poll: Upstate Likes Paterson
David Paterson is more popular upstate than in New York City, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.
Paterson’s approval rating is currently at 64-14 percent, compared to 56-17 percent in June. But as the picture above shows, upstate urban voters give Paterson a 76-7 approval rating, while other voters upstate give him a 70-13 percent approval rating.
Both of those are higher than the 59-14 percent approval rating Paterson got among New York City voters, and the 60-18 percent he got from suburban voters.
Interesting, for a Democrat legislator who represented Harlem for more than 20 years.
Quinnipiac pollster Mickey Carroll chalks up Paterson's high approval rating to his tough talk about the budget, which has irked some of his Democratic colleagues and labor friends.
The poll also shows voters are more in favor of raising taxes in millionaires, and are at least open to the idea of Rudy Giuliani for governor.
