Rafael Goes to the Police
Here’s City Hall gadfly Rafael Martinez-Alequin talking about a complaint he filed with the police. He says he was threatened by a woman who didn't like his attempts to document allegations about State Senate candidate Pedro Espada's residency. Espada is trying to unseat Democratic incumbent Efrain Gonzalez. Martinez-Alequin is working part-time for Gonzalez.

Pedro Espada has never legitimately lived in a address where he had represented as an elected official in the past and other political positions he has since run for. It is no surprise that his neighbors have never seen him. This is just another political trick he employs when attempting to run for office.
When Espada first got involved in community affairs, when residing at Stevenson Commons Bronx, NY. He began his political career as a tenant leader and then became head of the Soundview Health Center (SHC).He moved out of the Commons and for many years he has lived in Mamaroneck NY, though he does not use that as his legal address. Throughout his political career, he claimed residence where other family members actually lived in order to qualify as a candidate in the South Bronx.
Unfortunately this not his only duplicity. When he fails to recruit enough people outside of SHC, he would use members of his staff at the center and willing clients to help him in his political endeavors,. Not only SHC but any community program under his control.
Espada views all his programs as merely an extension of his political agenda. His goal is not to do public service but obtain power….political power. It is an ambition that has driven him as a young man. His desire to control politics in the Bronx is so compelling that anything less would be considered a failure. Money, public position and willing followers are merely tools for that purpose. And he is willing to spend his last dollar, use patronage and manipulate his own friends in order attain his political goals.
The sad part of this man is he could have been great credit to his community. If he showed a little patience and allowed all the positive accomplishments (and there are many) he has done, it would have reaped him the kind of adulation that would have carried him into the political limelight. He is an articulate, bright attractive man of Latin decent in a mostly Spanish and African cultured community. I can only surmise that he did not have enough confidence in himself or just too impatient. Whatever the reasons he pursued an odyssey of political revolutions and upheavals against established politicians who had no compulsion to move over for him. He created political enemies and to this day has attempted to profile himself as a crusader against those who have stood and stand in his way. Even going as far as rejecting his own party. The truth of the matter is he first became State Senator because he had the blessing of the Democratic Club. When he decided he did not want to be Senator anymore he attempted to name his successor, assuming the role as power broker. This was considered an insult to those in the party who supported him and since then his attempts for running for political office have been at best disappointing. However, Espada is not a quitter, he will always continue his political aspirations no matter what or how.
Why not let the people of the 33rd senatorial district have a choice of who they want as a leader. Arent the voters of the 33rd being violated of their rights? Why are the politicians so afraid of one voice?
Let the people in the 33rd, believe in Espada and believe that he can achieve, what Efrain Gonzalez - has not provided for 20 years. A healthier, safer, wealthier, and more productive comminity. Espada, has founded medical facilities that have created jobs for indivuals who life in the community and others that travel miles a day, to feel good about the services that their founder provides. If elected he can continue to provide for those in need. In addition, the people cam have the dignity of self-reliance.
Im glad to see that you acknowledge what Espada has done for the indigent communities.
Stop looking at Espada has the bad candidate, if anything he has been a hero in many communities and families.
We all know how bad the economy is - there are many hard working individuals who really want to be by his side, it feels good to give the families in the 33nd district vegetables and fruits, did you not stop to think that perhaps, Espada has given at least one individual a nutritial meal for that day.
It is said, that that economic freedom is more than a path to prosperity, its also a condition that opens up opportunities to enjoy freedom in the largest sense of the word—both politically and socially.
Dont violate our rights has humans.
