New York, NY, July 22, 2008...Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP (www.stroock.com), a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami today announced that prominent election lawyer Jerry H. Goldfeder has joined the firm's Litigation and Government Relations practice as a Special Counsel.

Mr. Goldfeder most recently served as Special Counsel to New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, where his portfolio included public integrity matters. Prior to joining Attorney General Cuomo’s office last year, Mr. Goldfeder was a trial and appellate attorney in private practice for over twenty-five years. Mr. Goldfeder also served as Special Counsel to the New York State Senate Democratic Conference under then-Senator David A. Paterson.

Mr. Goldfeder will be resuming his representation of elected officials, candidates for public office, partnerships and corporations in the areas of campaign finance, voting rights and public integrity defense; and he will be representing clients with interests in pending legislation and regulatory issues in New York City, Albany and Washington DC.

Mr. Goldfeder is the author of the recently-published treatise “Goldfeder’s Modern Election Law,” and teaches Election Law as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law School. He regularly lectures on “How to Decide an Election Case” to the Justices and attorneys of the Appellate Division, Second Department and chairs the Election Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Goldfeder has written articles for the Fordham Urban Law Journal, the New York Law Journal and the New York Times; regularly appears on TV and radio as an election and campaign finance expert; and has taught Election Law and Ethics in numerous CLE courses.

Mr. Goldfeder received his B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1968; his M.A. in political science from UCLA in 1972; and his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1979, where he served on the law review. .
