At a press conference in Brooklyn about improving school performance, I asked Michael Bloomberg if the downturn on Wall Street bolstered the case for extending term limits, an argument some supporters of the extension have made.
"There is an argument for experience," he said. "There is an argument for change and I think it's purely a question of what you think the appropriate level of balance is."
Bloomberg has reportedly been considering the idea of running for a third term.
He went on to say that he supports term limits, and advocated an "honest discussion" about whether lawmakers should be limited to two terms, as they are now, or allowed to serve for three.
Then, he added, "Four, to me, sounds much too long."
