Top Gun will forever forth shoot blanks. Alas, a new ‘Maverick’ has just been crowned—a young man who threatens to ground the sex-appeal of Tom Cruise’s beloved character from the 1986 Tony Scott classic film like a DC-10.
His moniker is Flying Officer William Wales, and he began flight training yesterday at R.A.F. Cranwell. Photos of the royal, budding pilot were just released to the public by Clarence House, the official residence of William’s father, Prince Charles.
But without his lovely Charlie, Maverick would be just another guy in the sky—a jet with nowhere to fly. Not to mention that Top Gun would not be Top Gun without the sexy subplot. So we’ve included this video montage of Prince William’s lovely girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
Since the posh pair rekindled their romance—after splitting for a brief period last spring—you simply can’t have one without the other. And for our money, the Ben Folds background music on the clip beats Kenny Loggins any day.
