A Republican's Reaction to Obama at AIPAC: Not as Good as McCain

Jonathan Greenspun, a Republican consultant who was in attendance for the AIPAC appearances of John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama this week, had a tepid reaction to Obama's speech this morning in D.C.

Among the highlights of the speech was Obama's assertion that the Iraq war had made Israel less safe and his call for Jerusalem to remain the undivided capital of Israel.

That last part drew praise from the right-leaning Orthodox Union, but Greenspun said that it wasn't enough to win over what he described as a decidedly pro-John McCain crowd at the event.

“It may have been the first time he said it, but it was industry standard for the pro-Israel community and there is nothing extraordinary about it,” Greenspun said.

He also said that when McCain talked about Iran, he got a standing ovation. Obama didn’t.

And a small detail: according to Greenspun, Obama was wearing a pin with the Israeli and American flags.

Democrat Jews for McCain.

The Iraq war did not harm Israel. Obama does not understand the relaionship between the US and Israel. In God's time, not Obama's, Jersualem will be once again undivided. For the Jewish people to demand the Musliums to leave Jerusalem would harm Israel and all of the families that call it their home.
