Hard-Hat Honcho Malloy Wants Third Bloomberg Term
Ed Malloy, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, just gave his thumbs up to extending term limits to keep Mayor Bloomberg in office.
From a statement released by Mr. Malloy's office:
"Should the Council of the City of New York vote to amend term limits, the continuing services of Mayor Bloomberg would certainly put the reins of government in steady hands and give us the strong and competent leadership we need to rise to the occasion of our current circumstances."
Mr. Malloy's group represents the mighty unionized construction workforce in the city, which has seen the number of construction jobs swell substantially under the Bloomberg administration.
The endorsement comes after a Quinnipiac poll released this morning found that 54 percent of city voters would favor extending term limits for Mr. Bloomberg, with 42 percent opposing the concept.
