Sheekey on Obama's Courtship of Bloomberg
Here's a portion of a transcript New York 1 News sent over from an interview with Deputy Mayor Kevin Sheekey, who said his boss spoke with Barack Obama last night:
"Certainly you could joke that Obama's call was a fundraising call yesterday,’’ Sheekey told political anchor Dominic Carter. “The man [Bloomberg] has the ability to finance a campaign. I don't think that’s why you choose a vice president. I do think that people are going to be very concerned about the influence of special-interest money in this campaign going forward."
“I think it was a reasonably short call, you know, I was briefed. I was told they had a nice call and I spoke to the mayor after they had breakfast a few months ago. Back to Obama -- you were the one asking about an Obama ticket. I think the mayor is the ultimate swing voter. He is someone who the country is looking at to find out where they will go. He is one of the true independents in the country."

Mayor Mike: We NEED you! Barack NEEDS you!
Obama is going to win New York with or without Bloomberg. The infantile people of New York vote for whomever has a capital D behind their name.
Enough with the sycophants and their chatter about Bloomberg. He is a billionaire with only corporatist solutions. We've seen the much touted NY'ers Rudy and Hillary implode. He's next. There's no there there! He should pay more attention to the needs of communities in the City and less to the real estate developers and bankers.
Bloomberg is a great Mayor. NYC has always been one of the best cities in the world, but while he has lead, it has improved in many ways. From the police being effective but not overly aggressive, to rezoning done in a fiscally prudent and livable way, to 311 and more, NYC has just become a more livable place.
But, I don't think Bloomberg will become Obama's VP bitch. It just isn't in his nature.
The "infantile people of New York" navigated an attack on our City with courage, dignity and character -- keeping Wall Street, our children in school and the Nation open -- for the red states who voted for George W. Bush. The "infantile people of New York" never voted for this disgracefully inept Bush/Cheney Administration -- TWICE. The "infantile people of New York" have voted for Giuliani and Bloomberg -- both Republicans -- despite their Party affiliation, based upon competence and ability.
Would that the Nation follow the "infantile people of New York" good judgement and vote with their brains and NOT based upon FEAR and IDEOLOGY (or giveaways from FLAWED Republican Senators/Congressmen-women). The "infantile people of New York" pay taxes and work very hard to keep our State flourishing. Contrast Katrina and the South -- and the rebuilding of the WTC. We have NOT moved. We will NOT move. We will rebuild -- ourselves.
As Barack Obama says, it is about JUDGEMENT. Turn the page.
The infantile people of New York would do well to start voting Republican and the state and local level. Enough Democrats, please.
