Spitzer to Paterson to Bruno

If Governor Spitzer is forced to resign, Lieutenant Governor David Paterson would be given the governor’s seat for the remainder of Mr. Spitzer’s term, which ends in 2010.

From the constitution:

In case of the removal of the governor from office or of his or her death or resignation, the lieutenant-governor shall become governor for the remainder of the term.

Senate majority leader Joseph Bruno, whose official title is temporary president of the Senate, would assume the duties of lieutenant governor and would be next in line for the top job, but would remain as majority leader.

In case of vacancy in the office of lieutenant-governor alone, or if the lieutenant-governor shall be impeached, absent from the state or otherwise unable to discharge the duties of office, the temporary president of the senate shall perform all the duties of lieutenant- governor during such vacancy or inability.

If the acting governor in this scenario, Paterson, were to vacate the office, Bruno would take over, with a special election to be held at the next general election.

Thanks to Bob Ward, deputy director of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, for his patient guidance.

Bruno would certainly be a better governor than Spitzer. Old timers are better than that schizophrenic Spitzer. Now is Bloomberg's golden opportunity.
Go Bloomy!!!!

Spitzer's simply a human being with some major character flaws. His hubris, arrogance and lust for sex not only got the best of him but will not permit him to resign and accept political reality. Shelly Silver's own lust for power will keep Spitzer protected from impeachment as the State Assembly will never authorize the Republican Senate to begin impeachment proceedings.

Say what you will but Spitzer's downfall is indicative of the systemic mediocrity of New York State's political system. The elective process favors money and connections over intelligence and vision. The New York State Legislature is a place for "connected" politicians to earn some extra income in exchange for working only a few days a year.

I say the entire lot should be impeached, recalled and thrown out of office.

Poor Spritzer. Lust for sex?? Serves him right. Like Jackie Mason joked, the closest thing to a sexless marriage is marrying a Jewish woman.

the wild care here is Paterson - he is reserved and thoughtful he may be the ultimate NY governor that people were looking for when they elected johny boy for governor;

A lawyer by training with the intellectual habits to do his work and he sees no reason to resign? Why is it that I do not believe this is the complete story.
If anyone did that and failed to recognize the implications of what they did, what would you say? He is crazy? I would.

That his wife stands by her man reminds me of Hillary, you know, the one that is running for President?
Is there something about the reasoning required that seems, or is, impossible to them?
And, one of them wants to be President?
Why is it that I do not believe this is the complete story?
