Michael Bloomberg among the most famous politician not enrolled in any political party. But he is still listed as a registered Republican on the new State Board of Elections voter information web site.

That's not because Bloomberg is still considered a Republican by the B.O.E., it's because Bloomberg‘s party change took effect right after the November elections last year, and the site is based on out-of-date information.

The site, which is supposed to let voters know if they’re registered to vote, has one other glitch.

In order to search for information, you have to plug in your full name, birth date and address. But the search field for street addresses doesn’t recognize street names. So, plugging in, for example, East 79th Street, results in a message that says “no matches found.” In order to search, you have to plug in only the first word of the street, like “East.”

Another website that you can use to look up voter information is VoterSearch.org, which, founder Ben Kallos (not surprisingly) pointed out to me, does not have the same problems.
