As our fascination with Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick continues, we direct you to a Page Six Magazine profile of the British actor, in which Mr. Westwick has a few things he'd like to clear up.
For one thing, while he may go out quite a bit, it's for fun--not tabloid mentions.
“If I want to go out and drink and throw a glass in the street, I’ll do it," he told the magazine. "As long as the reason is that I want to have fun and not that I want to create some sort of tension around me. Then I’d be a d--k. But I’m not.”
And secondly, he's not gay, people! (Even we felt the straight vibes just standing next to him the other evening.)
“It’s not true, but hilarious," he said of his rumored gay relations with his co-star and roommate Chace Crawford. "People project their fantasies onto people. I’ve never been someone who makes it my objective to go out and pick up chicks. But I’ve met some fantastic ladies here. You know, those amazing conversations where you find yourself in a café talking until 2 a.m. and never see them again.”
And in case you're still unconvinced of his straightness, he drives the point home with his sexy British talk.
“I love going out in the summer. The girls wear their nice dresses. Did that sound sleazy? It really did, didn’t it? Put it like this: Everyone comes out looking gorgeous in summer. We are a more beautiful species in the summer.”
Lastly, despite all the fuss around him, he knows that he's just an actor on the CW network.
“We [the Gossip Girl cast] were all thrown into this situation with a lot of attention on us, and you get a lot of free clothes and s--t but that’s no reason not to stay grounded. What am I really doing, baby? Saving the world? Nah, I’m on television,” he said. (According to the magazine, Mr. Westwick says the word "baby" a lot.)
The gem of the piece is a buried quote from socialite Stephanie Wei, who posed in a photo spread with Mr. Westwick for the magazine.
“I thought Ed was funny and charming, and he was very poised. He asked me what I did the night before, and I said I had gone to Rose Bar, and he told me he loved that place," she tells the magazine. "He was curious about the good places to go out.”
Ah yes, it seems as though Mr. Westwick has figured out the right people to ask about such important matters.
