Tomorrow evening, the East Hampton Library will host its fourth annual Author's Night benefit, Page Six reported today. All of the proceeds will benefit the library (though an Authors Only summer share might be kinda fun too!). Over 80 writers are expected to attend, including E.L. Doctorow, Jay McInerney, A.M. Holmes, Marie Brenner, Malachy McCourt, Steven Gaines, Barbara Goldsmith, Robert A.M. Stern, Fareed Zakaria, Tom Clavin, Sidney Offit, Philip Schultz, and Nelson DeMille.

The Daily Transom called up Sheila Rogers, the library's spokesperson. "It's just one famous writer after another!" she exclaimed. (We long for the days when a writer could have a house on the East End...) Honorary co-chair Alec Baldwin--whose book, A Promise to Ourselves, about his custody battle with Kim Basinger, is being published by St. Martin's in September--should also be there.

According to Ms. Rogers, the evening will begin with a cocktail party and book sale at the library on Main Street in East Hampton. Attendees will then disperse to one of 23 parties held in private homes all over the East End of the island, each of which will specifically honor one of the featured authors. The dinners will be themed around the guest of honor and his or her work--for example, New York State Democratic Party Chairwoman Judith Hope's gathering for Power Broker author Robert Caro, who has written extensively about Lyndon Johnson, will have a Western theme. Saddle up, ladies!
