At Tara Subkoff Party, Lydia Hearst Muses on Wearing White After Labor Day

On Thursday evening, a crowd of very well-dressed people gathered at the private club Norwood on West 14th Street for cocktails and a screening of a film directed by Tara Subkoff to promote her new line for Bebe. The film—"inspired from my favorite film noirs from back in the day," Ms. Subkoff told us—starred model Lydia Hearst, whom we found upstairs posing for photos on a white chaise alongside Ms. Subkoff.

We asked Ms. Hearst about her plans during Fashion Week. "I'm doing the full circuit this year, so I'm excited—it's amazing to go out, to get dressed up every night," she said. "I love Fashion Rocks. I think everybody does."

We wondered aloud about Ms. Hearst's outfit; to the Daily Transom's (apparently untrained) eye, it appeared to be a white sheath dress. Did she feel comfortable with this post-Labor Day transgression? "It's a bone-colored dress and gold shoes," she explained. "And it's white shoes that you can't wear after Labor Day—my mom [society girl and kidnapping victim Patty Hearst] was famously killed in the John Waters film Serial Mom for having done it."

Also in attendance was Ms. Hearst's frequent companion, Heatherette designer Richie Rich. He told us that Fashion Week was "kind of like your birthday party—the hype, the hoopla, the people. You go out and everybody's like hey, what's up. You see each other's face."

Out on the tiny smoking porch, we found 19-year-old professional muse Cory Kennedy, who described her latest projects: a T-shirt line ("I've been talking to Carol Lim and Humberto Leon at Opening Ceremony"), a potential trip to London with Peaches Geldof, and completing her long-delayed high-school degree ("I have a semester left and then I'm done ... I've never been a very school-oriented person"). Her Fashion Week plans include "Doing a bunch of stuff for Nylon and for my blog thing and supporting friends and I've got a couple of shoots." What does she like best about fashion week? "I feel like I'm being productive."

Also outside was un-embattled-seeming Natasha Lyonne, who just finished filming Robert McCaskill's Heterosexuals and is about to start on a movie with Susie Essman and Lauren Ambrose. Ms. Lyonne didn't seem too enthused about Fashion Week ("I'm involved by association ... it's part of being a New Yorker"), though she did allow that it was "exciting" and that she didn't mind free clothes.

What did she think about the Republican National Convention? "I don't usually have an opinion on politics because why would someone want my opinion on politics? But I like pregnant teenagers as much as the next guy." Well! What does she like best about autumn, we wondered? "The end of sweat ... the kids are off the streets." We suggested that it was probably the least hectic time for pregnant teenagers. She agreed.
