Today's Kennedy Endorsements: Obama 2, Clinton 1
On the heels of an endorsement for Barack Obama from Caroline Kennedy and the news that Ted Kennedy is going to endorse Obama tomorrow, the Clinton campaign released this statement of endorsement from Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Lt. Governor of Maryland:
“I respect Caroline and Teddy's decision but I have made a different choice. While I admire Senator Obama greatly, I have known Hillary Clinton for over 25 years and have seen first hand how she gets results. As a woman, leader, and person of deep convictions, I believe Hillary Clinton would make the best possible choice for president. She shares so many of the concerns of my father. Hillary has spent a lifetime speaking out on behalf of the powerless and working to alleviate poverty, in our country and around the world. I have seen her work up close and know she will be a great President. At this moment when so much is at stake at home and overseas, I urge our fellow Americans to support Hillary Clinton. That is why my brother Bobby, my sister Kerry, and I are supporting Hillary Clinton.”

kathleen kennedy townsend's endorsement? does that have any value to anyone on the planet? that reeks of desperation.
Who is Kathleen Kennedy Townsend? I am a bit lost here..I see she has the Kennedy name, but???
I'm sure "The Clintons" are both so desperate on this morning after they will take anything at this point, including Kathleen Kennedy's endorsment - that's if they even know who she is.
If anyone hasn't had the opportunity to read Caroline Kennedy's endorsment of Barack Obama in the New York Times, I would strongly recommend doing so. Regardless of your politics - "A President Like My Father" by Caroline Kennedy is an inspiration in itself.
She is the former Lt. Governor of MD. She is a good person, but has been involved in politics most of her adult life. She ran for Governor but lost. The difference between her endorsement and Caroline's is this: Caroline has spent her life trying to stay away from the public eye and politics. For her to come out and endorse anyone speaks volumes to how strongly she must feel about Obama. Kathleen's endorsement, being a former politician herself, feels more like politics as usual.
wasn't she a VJ on MTV???
haha
Hmmm... Caroline, who I have always admired, has endorsed before. In her opinion piece in the NYT she writes, "... "I want a president ... who holds himself, and those around him, to the highest ethical standards..." Oh, dear. JFK's ethics were questionable at best.
Looking back 40 years (instead of 16) the Kennedys' endorsements make a splash barely worth a news cycle. So, we strike a balance w/JFK's daughter & Teddy & 3 of Bobby's kids making endorsements that only the uber liberals will care about. And that's a wrap.
Let's pull up our socks and get back to this amazing road trip and do the needful discussions re issues & impact.
And the beat goes on ... it's a delicious time. Cheers!
Kathleen Kennedy is RIGHT!!!
she is a woman a white now do you know who she is?
You make 40 years sound like a long time...shame on you! JFK was a great president, and his daughter should not be ashamed of her father's accomplishments because of personal, not political assaults on his character. As far as Bobby's daughter (for those of you too young or too dumb, who don't have a clue), she has the right to endorse who she pleases, Bobby only dreamed of a Whitehouse occupation, and was cut short of being yet another great president. I do disagree with Kathleen's choice....Bobby is likely smiling at Barack right now; there is no doubt in my mind who Bobby would vote for in 2008. God Bless Caroline, Teddy, Kathleen, and ALL of the Kennedys. If only we'd had (and kept) more of them.
Oh, and one more thing....I see a woman getting results from CRYING...gee, that is STRONG. We don't need a crybaby in the Whitehouse, whining for what she wants. We need a strong leader.
she is wrong 50 billion people like obama and only 5 people like u get a life tim
leave hillary alone the reason she cryed was because the night before bill slapped her twice and busted her lip up a lil but u aint hear that
I think it shows fairness to include all Kennedys and who they endorse. To hear the news there are only two Kennedys: Teddy and Caroline. Give me a break. Report all the news - it does not reek desperation to me. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend ran a state and certainly is of equal opinion as Caroline's opinion.
JFK was not a great president, though he might have become one if he had lived. Caroline's endorsement of Obama is meaningless--she is hardly a great political brain. Ted's is a different matter--he knows the Clintons inside and out. Townsend's endorsement of Clinton is merely a political hack's payment to another one--Clinton campaigned for her in Maryland election.
A new political order is coming to America forty years after the Civil Rights Movement, and American Destiny has made of Barack Obama a candidate of character, super intellect, super judgment, super strategy. Obama brings the audacity of his vision, and HOPE for CHANGE that is inclusive of All in governance. Just look at who Barack Obama has brought to the polls from Iowa to South Carolina in Primary 2008!
And Carolyn Kennedy is an American just like the Americans who have taken the measure of the campaign of Barack Obama and made a reasoned choice to walk with Obama into the New Political Country of America in the 21st Century, so she endorsed him with the beautiful "A President like my Father". As for endorsement of Sen. Ted Kennedy, a most seasoned senator, he offers Barack Obama tremendous support in his run for the White House and affirms Barack Obama qualities that mirror his brother President JFK.
This is amazing how media is ignoring the fact that Robert Kennedy Jr. and two of his sisters endorsed Hillary. Maybe they are not so important as Teddy, but it is the fact being silenced. Teddy should not do any endorsements. He caused the split and brought confusion into Democratic Party; now Kennedys do not talk to each other, Clintons do not talk to Kennedys, Obama does not talk to Clintons. It's “great” for the Party during major election, don’t you think? Eventually Democratic Party will loose this election, because only Hillary can carry it all way to the end, but they are 'killing' and betraying her. About Obama, he is not ready to be a President; this guy is all fake and all empty like drum inside, making noise and nothing else, no substanse. It's OK when McCain and Romney are bashing each other, nobody gets offended; but Clintons can't say anything about Obama. Do not dare to critisize him, or you will become a racist. What is that? I have my reservations about him. Firstly, not because he was a Muslim, but because he is Christian now with still Muslim name. Don't you suppose to change your name when baptized? I think he changed his religion, because it's better to be a Christian in this country to run for the office. Secondly, he was Senator for less than one year and already started campaigning for President. He is driven by ambition, and nothing else. He is saying things people want to hear, he is a clear water populist, another "buddy" for all of us, his "folks".
Also, I agree about JFK, he was not great President; Bay of Pigs was his greatest embarrassment, and he almost put country on edge of nuclear disaster. He was a great orator (Obama is not! Bill Clinton is!), and womanizer greater than Bill Clinton. His death made him a great President.
Good for them, thank God some Kennedy's can think for themselves and are not jumping on ridiculous propaganda via the hot aired LYING candidate Obama.
Anonymous at 11:56 above is reading my mind exactly!! Kudos for you! Its like we are the only few with a brain who see this empty fake vessel for what he is. Obama is a FAKE people... get the facts learn about him, he is NOT who he says he is.
I can't believe that Caroline and Ted Kennedy would try to besmirch President's Kennedy's memory. It is just a opportunity to reverse flagging attention from themselves. Obama could very well split the Democratic Party. Support for Obama is an invitation for the Republicans to continue to destroy this country.
The absolute best endorsement is that of Caroline Kennedy as she has kept herself out of the public arena, for her to do this speaks volumes!!!
I noticed that Fox News wasted no time saying although these endorsements have come forward that Hilary is way ahead in the polls in California... Is that manipulative and sending subliminal messages to discourage people from going to the polls to vote for their candidate that is not necessarily in the high ratings?
Exactly how credible are these polls??? I believe the Republican party wants Hilary as the runner because together she and Bill have caused great division in this country and the Republicans are counting on that for their re-election.
Look at all the spins that are happening from whatever direction.
Hart-Celler Act hearings 1965 Quote: Senate immigration subcommittee chairman Edward Kennedy (D-MA.) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following:
"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same ... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset ... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia ... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."
Sen. Kennedy concluded by saying,
"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs." (U.S. Senate, Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization of the Committee on the Judiciary, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 1965. pp. 1-3.)

THE CLINTONS/IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS - 1998
Text of Article Two:
In his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally, and through his subordinates and agents, in a course of conduct or scheme designed to delay, impede, cover up, and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony related to a Federal civil rights action brought against him in a duly instituted judicial proceeding. The means used to implement this course of conduct or scheme included one or more of the following acts:
(1) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to execute a sworn affidavit in that proceeding that he knew to be perjurious, false and misleading.
(2) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to give perjurious, false and misleading testimony if and when called to testify personally in that proceeding.
(3) On or about December 28, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly engaged in, encouraged, or supported a scheme to conceal evidence that had been subpoenaed in a Federal civil rights action brought against him.
(4) Beginning on or about December 7, 1997, and continuing through and including January 14, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton intensified and succeeded in an effort to secure job assistance to a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him in order to corruptly prevent the truthful testimony of that witness in that proceeding at a time when the truthful testimony of that witness would have been harmful to him.
(5) On January 17, 1998, at his deposition in a Federal civil rights action brought against him, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly allowed his attorney to make false and misleading statements to a Federal judge characterizing an affidavit, in order to prevent questioning deemed relevant by the judge. Such false and misleading statements were subsequently acknowledged by his attorney in a communication to that judge.
(6) On or about January 18 and January 20-21, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton related a false and misleading account of events relevant to a Federal civil rights action brought against him to a potential witness in that proceeding, in order to corruptly influence the testimony of that witness.
(7) On or about January 21, 23 and 26, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton made false and misleading statements to potential witnesses in a Federal grand jury proceeding in order to corruptly influence the testimony of those witnesses. The false and misleading statements made by William Jefferson Clinton were repeated by the witnesses to the grand jury, causing the grand jury to receive false and misleading information.
In all of this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.
WHEREFORE, WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, BY SUCH CONDUCT, WARRANTS IMPEACHMENT AN TRIAL AND REMOVAL FROM OFFICE AND
DISQUALIFICATION TO HOLD AND ENJOY, ANY OFFICE OF HONOR, TRUST OR PROFIT UNDER THE UNITED STATES.
UPDATE:
SIX IN ONE HAND, HALF A DOZEN IN THE OTHER!
Quote:
"01-28) 04:00 PST Washington -- Sen. Barack Obama easily won the African American vote in South Carolina, but to woo California Latinos, where he is running 3-to-1 behind rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, he is taking a giant risk: spotlighting his support for the red-hot issue of granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
It's a huge issue for Latinos, who want them. It's also a huge issue for the general electorate, which most vehemently does not. Obama's stand could come back to haunt him not only in a general election, but with other voters in California, where driver's licenses for illegal immigrants helped undo former Gov. Gray Davis.
Clinton stumbled into that minefield in a debate last fall and quickly backed off. First she suggested a New York proposal for driver's licenses for illegal immigrants might be reasonable. Then she denied endorsing the idea, and later came out against them.
Asked directly about the issue now, her California campaign spokesman said Clinton "believes the solution is to pass comprehensive immigration reform."
"Barack Obama has not backed down" on driver's licenses for undocumented people, said Federico Peña, a former Clinton administration Cabinet member and Denver mayor now supporting Obama. "I think when the Latino community hears Barack's position on such an important and controversial issue, they'll understand that his heart and his intellect is with Latino community."
Obama's intention is to draw distinctions between himself and Clinton on what are otherwise indistinguishable positions on immigration. Both have adopted the standard Democratic approach of favoring tougher enforcement along with earned legalization.
The Illinois senator is differentiating himself in three key areas: driver's licenses, a promise to take up immigration reform his first year in office, and his background as the son of an immigrant (his father was Kenyan) and a community organizer in Chicago."
Just listened Hillary on CNN after winning Florida; so easy to listen and understand her. She is so smart and knowledgeable, people, don't you see it? God, I hope we will get her as a President. OBAMA: arrogant and ambitious rooster, can't put two words together without stuttering. If he was white, no one even would look his way. When we will stop in this country to praise black people for little successes just to keep them happy? We all should have equal rights, rights and obligations. I think, I would vote for Colin Powell so(would make nice vice president for someone), I liked him on View recently; but not for Obama.
So its obvious that you are voting the race card and not on issues. What does gender and race have to do with anything
the above about gender and race was in answer to redneck 76.

Get Real. Why dont you discuss Bush and all his lies?
The Democrats certainly know how to loose elections. The only people able to beat the Republicans in 30 years were the Clintons. Look at all the previous presidential losers who are backing Obama. I can't believe how Democrats always shoot themselves in the foot. HILLARY CLINTON can win this election, Obama cannot. I think there is a great deal of jealousy among the Democratic losers for the Presidency. The Clintons are the only ones who can win.
I look on everything, gender, race and issues, and I definitely like people of my race more than others. Don't you think it's pretty normal?? It does not mean, that I do not respect people of other race. Physical, social and cultural similarities attract me more, than differences.
I agree, that why most of whites vote to whites, and most of blacks for blacks; what card do you think, they use? Even your Obama is a same way. Remember how he said about Bill "we should check if he is really brother" All blacks are brothers for him, but not whites... Can't blame him though.
