Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary, is joining CNN as a conservative political commentator, starting today.

From the Press Release:

A well-known and respected observer of politics with a longstanding news background, Snow will contribute to CNN as the network continues to broadcast winning political coverage.

For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio. Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute "From the Right" co-host for CNN's Crossfire.

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory," Snow said. "The big challenge in 2008 is to develop deep, creative and aggressive analysis of both political parties, their candidates and campaigns. I'm eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come."

Tony Snow is a very special hero to me. I first "ran" into Tony in the 1980s when he frequently filled in for Rush on the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Tony has the unique gift of being able to explain in simple, but accurate language, the complex twist and turns that politics and government affairs can take using simple but accurate terms that anyone could understand. And if you were a caller he took the time to make sure you understood what he was saying and that you were satisfied that you had a complete answer. He also had a weekly column in the Detroit News that was always a "must read" for me. When Tony left to serve as press secretary for the Bush administration, it was a sad day for me, but a great honor for Tony. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he did what needed to be done to defeat the cancer without much fanfare and continued to do his job. And is was during this period that I was diagnosed with cancer that was tankfully caught early and responded well to radiation. I guess Tony will always be a hero to me even though he's a lot younger than I am.

Where is Tony Snow? I still have yet to see him on CNN. He should of went to Fox News, for he made Fox News on what it is. IF CNN was serious about getting Tony Snow, they would have him on their network more.
