What’s not to love about a governor who brags about all the adulterous nookie he’s had and all the blow he’s snorted? If Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton made good on the new rumors that they’ll face off in a bloody slugfest for Albany’s top job in 2010, we’re betting David Paterson prevails! In the meantime, out in a land called Dumbo, theater types at St. Ann’s Warehouse host a benefit concert, where you’ll be spared the spectacle of Tinsley and her tarts. In their place, you get a box of 80’s and 90’s indie stars such as Natalie Merchant, Suzanne Vega, Steve Buscemi, David Byrne, Beth Orton, Richard Strange, Martha Wainwright and Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra, all performing producer Hal Willner’s Stay Awake, which features reinterpreted Vintage Disney music. Still with us? For those who prefer flower arrangements and monogamy, the folks at New York magazine host a “wedding showcase” to kick off bridal season. (Better up that Xanax after all!) And once we’re all feeling really good about ourselves, ladies, let’s make haste to the 92nd Street Y to hear authors Amy Richards and Katie Roiphe—who are between them responsible for such tomes as Opting in: Becoming a Mother Without Losing Yourself and The Morning After: Fear, Sex and Feminism (Ms. Roiphe’s charming book about date rape)—discuss “issues relevant to 21st-century women,” i.e., Bugaboo vs. McLaren. ...
