Yves Saint Laurent's Funeral Scheduled for Thursday
Yves Saint Laurent's funeral has been scheduled for Thursday at the Eglise Saint-Roch, a Baroque church in Paris according to Women's Wear Daily, with president Nicolas Sarkozy expected to attend.
Meanwhile The Daily Transom has received a statement from chairman of Christian Dior, Bernard Arnault, who said,
"Monsieur Saint-Laurent was the embodiment of French Haute Couture for half a century. He designed for a woman who reconciled the two fundamental truths which always guided him in his personal life: freedom and elegance. I will never forget his shining debut at Christian Dior where his talents were first unveiled. His humility was the mark of his genius."
Cause of death has been reported to be brain cancer. The designer passed away in the presence of longtime business partner Pierre Berge and friend and model Betty Catroux, and actress Catherine Deneuve reportedly arrived shortly after.
Monsieur Saint Laurent will reportedly be incinerated, and his ashes scattered at his impressive Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, Morocco that the designer has owned since 1980.
