By Sheer Force of Wills, Brit Clothing Company, Silent Disco to Invade Hamptons

We may be celebrating our independence from the Brits this weekend–but no so fast! In a few weeks, an English brand called Jack Wills, sort of the Abercrombie and Fitch of the UK, will arrive in the Hamptons.

Over the weekends of July 24 and August 7, the company plans to throw so-called “Silent Disco” parties–those strange occurrences, born out of noise complaints and prevalent at music festivals and certain Williamsburg bars–during which everyone sways and bops their head in unison while listening to music through wireless headsets connected to a DJ booth. (Precise locations to be disclosed a week prior on Jack Wills’ Twitter and Facebook pages; there will also be events in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.)

According to the company’s marketing and events manager, Olly Finding, Jack Wills had great success with such events in London. “So we decided that we had to introduce our American friends to such a unique experience on the beaches of the United States!” he said. Ooh goody! “We like to think of our visit as a very stylish British invasion, adding a little dash of British taste and humor.”

The Transom remarked that the Silent Disco concept seemed like a brief, strange fad that for the most part seemed to have died out.

“It never died,” insisted Mr. Finding with touching optimism. “And it’s definitely going to be bigger than ever after this summer!
