ALBANY—Eric Sundwall, seeking the Libertarian line in the race to succeed Kirsten Gillibrand in Congress, told me he submitted about 7,000 signatures to the state Board of Elections a few minutes ago.
He needs 3,500 to get on the ballot. Sundwall tried to get on the ballot in 2006, but was knocked off in a challenge.
“It’s New York State politics and elections law, but we’re cautiously optimistic we’re going to make it,” Sundwall said.
The special election is scheduled for March 31. The other candidates are Jim Tedisco, on the Republican and Conservative lines, and Scott Murphy, running on the Democratic, Independence and Working Families party lines.
