Harper Perennial has posted a trailer for its upcoming book The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos, a coffee-table book of Tumblr-submitted, literary-themed tattoos. As you may have expected, our nation’s second greatest WWII satirist is well represented.
We counted at least four tattoos in the trailer featuring quotes from Kurt Vonnegut. And two by Bukowski. There’s also a great moment when one of the book’s creators fulfills her promise to get a literary tattoo herself and opts for a poem by the surrealist Daniil Kharms that consists of arranged rectangles rather than words, which strikes us as cheating.
The trailer includes a plug for the website that inspired the book, where you can go to see more literary tattoos. Or you could just ride the L train. Layup!
