That was speedy: following reports yesterday of impending BusinessWeek layoffs, cuts are apparently already underway. Keith Kelly hears that 20 employees are being cut and 10 others reassigned to Bloomberg News. The hardest-hit departments are apparently editorial, photo and art.
Talking Biz News has further details:
Among those cut were Tom Lowry, who covered media and marketing, and Michelle Conlin, who covered workplace issues.
Lowry, who has been at the magazine for more than a decade, declined to comment other than to confirm he had been laid off. Conlin confirmed via e-mail that she lost her job.
Almost all of the art and photo departments have also lost their jobs, said one source.
