Well! NPR provides answers to these very questions, relaying the Daily Beast editor-in-chief’s recommendations on the subject of “the evolution of the written word.”

Her picks include New York‘s Murdoch profile (“He’s oddly enough becoming more and more assertive as he heads for the dying of the light”), a New Republic piece on writers’ status as “the new proles,” and a  New York Review of Books article on book publishing.

The only article she chooses from a web-based publication is one from the Daily Beast itself. Hmm.
