Finally you can have your Park Avenue view and iPhone-controlled blinds, too.

Defying all the musty stereotypes, 1055 Park Avenue features a cascading glass staircase, white oak floors and plenty of European appliances with unpronounceable names. And because every luxury condo should come with a good party trick, your phone controls not only your blinds, but also the heat, air, lights and music.

Not surprisingly, this shiny new condo amongst Park Avenue prewars has stirred up a lot of interest in a neighborhood where even a new shrub is noteworthy. If you’re nervous about being the new kid on the block, a “luxury attaché concierge” will gladly wrangle you those hard-to-get dinner reservations. Of course, change isn't always popular. The building’s five units have been listed for over a year and haven’t been going anywhere fast, The Real Deal reported this week. But Douglas Elliman recently took over, and, in a change we can all get behind, the new listings feature some seriously reduced prices.

This particular four-bedroom unit is being offered for $8.95 million, down from its original asking price of $14.5 million. Given the availability of glass with Park Avenue class, you won't want to wait long. -- Laura Kusisto
