At least for this morning, the mustachioed misfit of the governor’s race–Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy–is everywhere.
Yesterday, Media Matters’ new investigative reporter ran a story about how Mr. Levy may have bullied Newsday into re-assigning two critical reporters. And, well, today Mr. Levy is on the cover of the Long Island daily with an optimistic headline: “Levy for Governor? HOW HE COULD PULL IT OFF.”
But Steve Levy’s Big Day doesn’t stop at the island.
The Wall Street Journal and the Times-Union both had stories this morning about Mr. Levy’s meeting today with Republican leaders, who might like Mr. Levy to run under their banner, particularly since he’s already raised about $4 million.
He’s got also an op-ed in the New York Post, attacking the salaries of police officers. And our own Azi Paybarah checked in on a News 12 poll that Mr. Levy was encouraging supporters to vote in. The early verdict: dispiriting.
But the deluge of coverage must be heartening. I mean, it’s not Rahm Emanuel Week, but for a guy who’s not currently being polled in those gubernatorial hypotheticals, it’s something.
