Seniors and elected officials are swarming the steps of City Hall right now to protest state-funding cutbacks to senior centers.
Governor David Paterson has repeatedly said he needs to reduce expenses, and welcomes suggestions. At his town hall forum yesterday, he said he expects people to urge him to spend more money in certain areas, and he would listen to those suggestions.
Which, of course, is always the hard part of budgeting, and not something that protesters are usually in the habit of addressing.
As evidenced by this sign at the protest this morning: “More Funding for us!” Another good sign I noticed: “We are too alive to drop dead!”
