Paterson Blames Low Poll Numbers on Ads, Senate Circus

ALBANY—David Paterson attributed his dismal standing in a poll released today to an ad blitz attacking his plan for health care funding, as well as voters perception of the process of selecting Kirsten Gillibrand as senator.

Here's a video of most of what he said during a scrum after addressing students and administrators from various S.U.N.Y. campuses. Later in the conversation, Paterson was asked by Irene Liu of the Times Union if there was anything he would have done differently in the Senate selection process.

"I wouldn't have changed the senator that I picked," he said. "I think that, there was a point in that process when it started to become a bit of a circus, and I probably just should have ended it."

"In the end, you probably all were right," he said.
