A New York Mixer for Murphy
ALBANY—Scott Murphy is billed as set to attend a fund-raiser meet-and-greet event in Manhattan next week hosted by DL21C.
The event is scheduled for March 12 at the Retreat Lounge. The cost of admission is $7. Murphy is the Democratic candidate for the 20th Congressional seat, which comprises 10 upstate counties. His opponent is Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco.
Republicans upstate have long used "New York City" as a sort of curse on their Democratic opponents, including now-senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who worked as an attorney in two Manhattan law firms. If you listen closely to the NRCC's latest attack ad, they make a special point of noting that Murphy was on the board of directors of a "New York-based" company.
The Murphy campaign has been slamming Tedisco for accepting money from a fund-raiser featuring RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
The e-mail I got announcing the event also notes that phone-banking on Murphy's behalf is going on at State Democratic Headquarters on Park Avenue every weeknight. Tedisco has been running constant phone banks from his Clifton Park headquarters.
CORRECTION: The original version of this post referred to the DL21C event as a fund-raiser. It isn't one.
