ALBANY—The latest movement in voting tallies in the race to replace Kirsten Gillibrand has Democrat Scott Murphy leading Assemblyman Jim Tedisco by 198 votes, elections officials said.
But Tedisco’s camp says that those results don’t account for a margin of 228 additional Tedisco votes from Saratoga County, which would put them back in the lead by 30.
The State Board of Elections–which is still waiting to report recanvassed results from two counties–is currently reporting the election as a dead heat, with the candidates tied at 77,225. Some counties are still recanvassing their voting machines, including Washington and Saratoga Counties.
An official at the Washington County board said at around 5 p.m. that with 37 of 52 electoral districts recanvassed, Murphy picked up 198 votes. Recanvassing also took place in Saratoga County, but officials there did not release partial results.
The lead has gone back and forth.
None of these results include paper ballots, which are impounded until a court hearing Monday.
