Bloomberg the Obama Guy
Michael Bloomberg said he’d be “happy” to have the endorsement of President Obama.
“I can’t imagine the president of the United States would get involved in local elections, period. But I’d be happy to have his endorsement, or anybody else's,” Bloomberg said in the Bronx this morning when asked about Obama by a reporter. Then, Bloomberg pointed to another reporter and asked if there was a “legitimate question.”
Today, Bloomberg is speaking at a luncheon in Manhattan that will also feature Larry Summers, who is Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy. Recently, Bloomberg’s effort to extend mayoral control was given a major boost when Obama’s education secretary stepped in.
And Bloomberg’s campaign – which includes Obama advisers from Squire, Knapp & Dunn – are referencing Obama directly, indirectly, and sometimes, subliminally.
