Tedisco Nets 8 More Votes, Now Trailing by 47; Next Up, Saratoga
ALBANY—Two of the ten counties in the 20th Congressional district have canvassed their military and overseas ballots, and Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has gained nine votes since this morning in his race to replace Kirsten Gillibrand.
The canvasses were completed in Otsego and Delaware counties, both of which narrowly went for Tedisco. His side has maintained that they expect the military and overseas ballots will favor him.
I'm also hearing that Saratoga County, the most populous in the district, is nearing the end of its counting. They haven't reported any numbers yet, but even Democrats say they expect Tedisco will pick up votes there, probably around 70 or 80. That would swing the tally back.
Significantly, though, Democrats say that many of their likely absentee voters have been objected to by Tedisco's campaign. If they're right, then Murphy is likely to pick up the lion's share of however many of the hundreds of set-aside ballots that are approved after court review.
