Golisano Says 'Thank You' to Espada and Monserrate
One day before Hiram Monserrate told a Daily News columnist he'd rejoin the Democratic conference, full page ads appeared in the Daily News and New York Post thanking Monserrate and Pedro Espada for siding with the Republicans.
The ads, which were paid for by Tom Golisano's PAC, Responsible New York, equates the two with Barack Obama.
"Senators Pedro Esapda Jr. and Hiram Monserrate are answering President Obama's call leading the charge to solve our economic challenges," the ad says.
"Last week, Senators Espada and Monserrate voted to put the people of The Bronx and Queens above the special interests that have controlled Albany for far too long," it says.
The ads echo the talking points in one of the robocalls going into Monserrate's district, which says, "Senator Monserrate is fighting to change Albany because, like President Obama, he believes we need to put people before politics."
