Monserrate Time Again
June 15, 2009 | 12:11 p.m
ALBANY—Once again, we’re on Monserrate time.
Hiram Monserrate staffers had told reporters to expect an announcement from Monserrate at 11:30, in a conference on the third floor of the Capitol, that he had decided to rejoin the Democrats.
So far, nothing.
Democratic Senators Shirley Huntley and Diane Savino walked out together after the 11:30 deadline but said nothing to the press. A few moments ago, they went back in.
A few sources close to the negotiations tell me that the Republicans haven’t given up, and are still negotiating to keep Monserrate in their coalition.
UPDATE: Looks like they have Monserrate. The event is starting now.
