Here’s Ed Koch endorsing Republican City Councilman Eric Ulrich of Queens for re-election.

“I believe that the City Council best represents the people when it has strong bi-partisan leadership,” Koch said in a public statement.

An interested reader noted that Koch’s name carries some extra clout in the Broad Channel section of the district, since he was mayor in 1982 when the city brokered a deal to allow residents to buy their homes. Previously, they were only allowed to lease their property from the city.

Ulrich is facing Democrat Frank Gulluscio, who was knocked off the ballot during the special election three months ago for not having enough valid signatures.
