Here's the script of a robocall from David Paterson that went out last night:

"Tonight, I announced the appointment of Richard Ravitch as Lieutenant Governor.

I have used my authority and taken this step in order to get the State Senate working again.

My priorities are clear: we must create good, new jobs; make health insurance affordable and secure; and provide property tax relief.

But this work has been sidelined by chaos in the Senate.

Together with Lt. Gov. Ravitch, I am determined to end the Senate gridlock and clear the issue of succession -- it's time for them to get back to work."
