Jockeying for Martinez's Seat

Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat will be endorsing Ydanis Rodriguez for Miguel Martinez’s City Council seat.

It’s noteworthy since there’s another candidate entering the race, Guillermo Linares, the Bloomberg commissioner who resigned from his job in order to run for the seat.

The Espaillat endorsement is a boost for the candidacy of Rodriquez. It’s also the second time Espaillat has been on the opposite end of Bloomberg, politically.

Recently, Espaillat endorsed Bloomberg’s Democratic opponent, Bill Thompson.

Bloomberg and Espaillat seemed closer last year. Bloomberg endorsed Espaillat for re-election when he was challenged in a primary by ... Miguel Martinez.
