A reader alerts me to a Tweet from the campaign manager for one City Council candidate, defending use of the N-word in anti-racist contexts.

Jake Itzkowitz, the campaign manager for Margaret Chin, who’s running for Alan Gerson’s seat, wrote on Twitter, “@CityHallNews Politicians should be able to use the 'N' word in attacking ignorance & racism. Aren't we a mature enough culture for that?”

Itzkowitz wrote the comment on July 20th, the day City Hall News published an interview with Carolyn Maloney where she used the N-word in relaying a quote she heard that was critical of Kirsten Gillibrand.
