The Bloomberg Belt

Isac Weinberger called a moment ago to say Michael Bloomberg is going to campaign in the Catskills this Sunday. Bloomberg campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson confirmed the trip.
It's not a new thing for a candidate to go there in the hunt for city voters. Mayor John Linsday went out to Long Island when he was campaigning in the 1960s. And there is something of a tradition of New York City politicos beating a path to places like Kiryas Joel, too.
