Snyder Talks About the Price of Not Leaving New York
Observer intern Kate McGee tuned in to catch the Manhattan district attorney candidates spar on Brian Lehrer's show this morning, where Leslie Crocker Snyder put into vivid detail what it cost her to stay in New York while Cy Vance decided to "flee" to Seattle.
“I’ve been here through all the worst times in New York, putting my family and my life on the line. We were under police protection for eleven and a half years. Our kids went to school with two cops each because I was here protecting New Yorkers,” she said. Vance simply responded “I am a new Yorker. I was born here,” and “My time in Seattle enhances my capacity to do the job better. This is a national law office. The Manhattan DA’s office handles cases that are not just local, but national and international in scope.”
Lehrer ended the interviews asking the candidates who should play them on Law & Order. Snyder said Angelina Jolie, Richard Aborn said he’s fine with Sam Waterston and Vance jokingly said he already has a letter out to George Clooney.
