Poll: 70 Percent of Us Are Still Mad at the State Senate

ALBANY—A poll released today by Marist College shows, not surprisingly, that 70 percent of voters are "angry" with the State Senate.

The chamber last week convened, ostensibly to pass legislation restructuring ethics enforcement, but failed to pass any legislation related to ethics. Several of the chamber's members are fighting felony charges in court, and many expect an indictment of Pedro Espada Jr., the majority leader.

The 70 percent figure is essentially unchanged from June, when the Senate was in the throes of a month-long stalemate. The survey of 800 registered voters also found that 54 percent of those polled think the Senate is performing poorly.
