57-year-old Harlem nurse Brenda Madison, after seeing Obama with 102 electoral college votes, said, “it’s really going to happen.”
When I asked Madison, who, like most of the people in the crowd here on 125th Street, is
African-American, what tonight’s election meant, she was at a loss for words.
“This is what we’ve been told about all our lives, that this could happen. There’s no words to describe it.”
But she found some words when Rudy Giuliani appeared on the television screen.
“Boo. Boo! he couldn’t run for dog catcher.”
