i still do not understand why candidates who have their own base of supporters would drop out of a race before it even becomes a race. i think that it is way to premature in light of the fact that this will be an open seat and may pose a big opportunity to get elected and serve. there have been many elected officials that have been elected despite the organized support of their opponents.
