I particularly like Elhanan's thoughts around the need for a 2-state solution as something important to both groups. There is something parteralistic about Westerners lecturing both Israelis and Palestinians on what type of state they should have. Looking at what is going on in Iraq between the Shia and Sunni and in Lebanon between the different groups, it's not hard to appreciate why folks in this region might want to have clearly demarcated spaces to insure that they are not dominated by another group.
